Chairman's Message
Dear Stakeholders,
For EBM, 2024 was a pivotal year for sustainable development, and a year in which we deepened
our digital healthcare transformation and laid the foundations of sustainable governance. As global
sustainability transformation and digital health trends converge, the role of medical technology is no
longer merely that of an auxiliary tool for improving efficiency; it has become a key force driving
shared social well-being and environmental sustainability. In the face of rapidly evolving domestic and
international healthcare policies, rising cybersecurity threats and increasingly urgent climate issues,
we uphold our core mission, "The cornerstone of healthcare quality: only by respecting life can quality be
ensured," and continue to improve software quality, information security and corporate governance
mechanisms, in order to realize our vision of sustainable business operations and shared social
well-being, with the aspiration of becoming a world-class medical software company.
Since its founding, EBM has consistently taken user needs as its core and technology as its means,
dedicating itself to upgrading and digitally transforming medical information workflows. From very early
on, we began promoting "filmless" practices to support the medical diagnostic process. Our first step
began at Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital, which was the first to adopt the filmless
approach; over the long term, this has not only reduced medical waste and carbon emissions but also brought
greater efficiency to communication between physicians and patients. Later, during the challenges of the
COVID-19 pandemic, we accelerated the launch of "contactless" medical imaging, helping healthcare
institutions reduce the risk of infection and ensure uninterrupted medical care. We have also
further expanded into the "Electronic Health Record (EHR)", making medical records
portable and realizing the vision of each person having control over his or her own medical records. This will be not
only a breakthrough in information technology but also a substantive contribution to patient autonomy and healthcare equity.
In 2024, we reviewed the current state of our sustainable development, summarized as follows:
On the Environmental (E)
side, we introduced a greenhouse gas inventory and carbon emission management system, completed the
Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emission verification for our Taiwan headquarters, gradually introduced LED
energy-saving equipment and water-saving facilities, and, with reference to the international
IEA 2°C and 1.5°C scenario simulations, estimated potential risks and transition opportunities, in line with the
SDG 13 Climate Action goal.
On the Social (S)
side, we value employee development and organizational resilience. In 2024, we continued to strengthen internal training,
enhanced support for women in the workplace, and promoted the "Healthcare Accessibility Project for Offshore Islands
and Remote Areas," such as the "Mountain and Offshore Island Imaging and Reporting System" and the "Pre-hospital
Electrocardiogram System," helping residents of remote areas obtain more timely, high-quality
medical services.
On the Governance (G)
side, the Board of Directors leads the development of our sustainability strategy and risk oversight. We have
approved the charter of the Sustainable Development and Risk Management Committee, established a material topic
assessment mechanism and a climate governance framework, and report results to the directors regularly. With ethical
corporate management, internal audit and stakeholder communication at the core of our governance, we ensure that
ESG measures are implemented.
As a professional provider focused on medical imaging and cloud information services, we are well aware
that behind every piece of patient data and every diagnostic and treatment decision lie the trust placed in life and the safeguarding of health. Therefore, in
2024, we continued to deepen our ISO 13485 medical device quality management system and ISO 27001 information security management system, fully implemented information security documentation processes, risk identification and protection management, and obtained
international certifications from SGS, DNV and others, demonstrating our commitment in action to medical quality and information security. In addition, by developing
subscription-based services, we have broadened the market reach of our products.
Looking ahead, we will continue to uphold our three strategic pillars of "medical innovation, information security
and sustainable development," enhancing the added value of our products, expanding international market cooperation, and deepening the foundations of ESG governance. Sustainability is not
only a responsibility, but also a commitment to value. We look forward to working with you to build a more resilient and forward-looking
medical software ecosystem.
We believe that truly valuable innovation starts from human needs, and EBM responds to the real
needs of the medical front line; a truly resilient enterprise is one that can seize transformation trends and connect stakeholders to co-create sustainable
value. Looking ahead, EBM will continue to fulfill our commitments through action, joining hands with healthcare institutions, technology
partners and the public to jointly build a digital, low-carbon, people-centered sustainable healthcare ecosystem.
EBM will also continue to make great strides in sustainable development. We are gradually institutionalizing our sustainability governance mechanisms and
strengthening the Board of Directors' attention to and responsibility for climate risks, cybersecurity risks and human rights issues. Through publishing
sustainability reports and sustainability information disclosures, we explain to all stakeholders our approach to sustainable development, and in our strategic
planning we incorporate environmental impact mitigation, information security protection, and socially inclusive practices in smart healthcare
applications.
With best wishes
for your peace and well-being.
